Project: Acoustic Chambers For Crossrail Tunnel Academy
Location: Ilford
Introduction
ISD have supplied & installed approx 8000m2 acoustic mineral fibre panels to the brand new Crossrail Tunnel Academy in Ilford Essex. The Tunnelling and Underground Construction Academy (TUCA) is a purpose-built training facility currently in its final stages of construction. Part of our installation incorporates a 1 hr fire rated mineral fibre partition to provide compartmentation in the brand new facility.
This facility is to give staff the required training to safely build tunnels under London. Crossrail is using TUCA to address the shortage of people with the required skills to work on the programme. The academy will mean that all people working on Crossrail sites achieve the necessary qualifications before working underground on any of their sites. Crossrail believes this is Europe's first specialist tunnelling training centre outside of Switzerland.
Facilities within the construction will provide teaching rooms, workshop space, a sprayed concrete lining area for a simulated tunnel boring machine.
Project
For this project, ISD offered the complete composite wall solution incorporating fire rated walls, acoustic walls, acoustic ceilings, acoustic fire rated doors, and passive fire protection.
